Staff News
Jim Lockwood - Jim is working on a small remodeling project at home that has grown to a big remodeling project. It involves two bathrooms, laundry, plumbing, electrical, ……it has definitely been getting in the way of his preferred activities this time of year - hiking and fishing.
Jennifer Fisher - After spending quite a bit of the spring traveling for Kandahar, attending group ski shows, I am still struggling to get caught up. In the recent hot weather I have really enjoyed our water activities; sailing, boating, waterskiing, etc.
Heidi Borg - Heidi has a stack of work that she has a hard time beating down as well. She helps out with Sales, mostly by managing the extranet inventory on Expedia, Travelocity, etc. plus she supervises the front desk staff, arranges the details on groups, helps Jim with the month end process and collects direct bills. She has been home alone quite a bit this spring as her husband, Steve, has been getting additional training as a firefighter (wildfires, that is). Now he is in New Mexico on a fire but should be home soon. In the meantime Hank (dog/child) keeps her company.
Andrea Johnson - Andrea is back after a hiatus over the winter as our full time night auditor. We always appreciate her cheerful, no fuss approach to her night work. Her cats entertain her in her off time.
Beata Bercziova Sloan - Yep, that's right. Tom and Bea married this winter. She is doing the night audit two nights per week and fills in when we need an extra shift or two covered.
Russ Carpenter - Russ continues on in his evening desk clerk capacity. His meticulous approach to his work is inspirational. He and Sandy are planning a big trip to Europe fall of 2008 via ship with Dexter, the most spoiled dog in Montana. Right now he is glued to the Tour de France coverage.
Christina Rupprecht - Christina is becoming an old hand at the front desk after spending the winter in that position. She is working two days and three nights but the days are combined with two of the nights so she is here from 7am - 11pm. It takes youth to do that. She and a person named Jeremy are doing a lot of rafting and camping.
Rusty Bos - Rusty has taken a new job that doesn't involve driving the Big Mountain road. He is the full time maintenance guy at the Monterra condominiums. We will miss his "jack of all trades" abilities and his contributions to our staff potlucks.
Tom Sloan - Tom has worked as Rusty's relief and done other jobs for Kandahar. It was a fairly easy transition to move him to full time maintenance. He loves to joke with all of us. For instance, he asked me if I drive a Saab. I said yes. He said, "Oh, I'm so sorry, I just ran into it with the van". He waits for the horrified expression to come onto my face and than says, "Just joking".
Robyn Heathman - Last fall Robyn agreed to become the Housekeeping Manager. She keeps the rooms well supplied and manages the cleaning staff. Day hiking is a big part of her life this time of year.
Nancy Hawkes - Nancy continues to be a mainstay of the housekeeping staff. She has a good time with the guests and holds up her end of the work. The other day one of their cats got trapped between the screen and the window at their house. They couldn't fine Peanut that night and the next morning heard a meow and found him in his "cage". He was thrilled to escape.
Pasenta Fagal - Senna is a friend of Nancy's and they enjoy working together. This is her second season with us. We love what ever she brings to the staff potluck! She is a very good cook.
Amy McIntosh - Amy also helped us in housekeeping this past winter. She enjoys the Park and camping so much that she will drive from a campsite to come to work. She has had her first bear encounter of the season. She quickly turned off the trail and left him(her?) to it.
Peggy Levinsky - Peggy is Senna's daughter. We don't mind making this a family affair. She has two sons and a daughter. She is hoping to stay on with Kandahar into the winter so that the kids can get "employee dependent" ski passes.
Lindsey Heldstab - Lindsey lives on Big Mountain and has been employed at The Lodge in both housekeeping and front desk departments. She has agreed to work very part time as our Turndown Service technician. We are excited to add this additional service to our guests' experience.
Chris Heathman - Chris is filling in for Tom's days off. He and Robyn live on the Mountain so there is no commute time. He has worked for Kandahar in various capacities in previous years. He has been helping Jim with his remodel so may feel a little overworked.
