We were there last year for the week around the 4th of July. I am excited for you (that you are arriving soon)! (& a bit envious). Fabulous area. So much to do and we loved Kandahar Lodge at Whitefish Mountain Resort!

Jennifer,
Good afternoon. Thank you for taking a few minutes to read this message. I hope it finds you well.
I wanted to personally thank you and your staff for the wonderful stay my fiance and I had this past week. As you may remember, we were with the Cincinnati Ski Club and I was unable to ski due to the leg injury I sustained in December.
Your staff was extremely hospitable and friendly. The service outstanding. My requests to be driven to the Snowbus stop and/or the Village was always met with a smile. Mark was simply stated -- the best.
I hope our paths cross again in the future. Meanwhile, enjoy the rest of the week.

Hi Jennifer
Just wanted to say Thank You. We loved Kandahar lodge. Our week was a perfect ski week. The lodge made our trip. It was great to come in from skiing and have cider and cookies waiting. The group enjoyed the fireplace and lounge area every night after dinner. Everyone at Kandahar lodge gets a A+ in service and friendly atmosphere. The stairs we got our exercise. I am really looking forward to our next trip to Whitefish.

We felt so welcome here. There was champagne in our room for our honeymoon. I thought that was so sweet. If we come to Whitefish again - we'll totally come back here!

Hi Chris or Russ,
I was recently in your lodge with the Clark Group. I was in room 308.
I want to take this opportunity to thank you for an outstanding experience in your lodge. From the moment I arrived, the hospitality was 5 star. From my first experience with housekeeping, to the shuttle guy, to the front desk, to the restaurant, it was all superb.
Thank you so much for making my winter vacation to Big Mountain such a pleasure.
Sincerely,
~Kelly

Hi Jennifer,
I hope all is well with you. I'm a little late with this, but I wanted to say thank you to you and your staff at the Kandahar Lodge for helping make our ski trip a wonderful experience. Everyone in our group said they enjoyed staying at the Kandahar, that it was a very nice and comfortable lodge. Many of them mentioned how accommodating you and your staff were with our group, stepping in to offer help whenever we asked for it. Your staff seemed to 'go the extra mile' in every way, even setting the breakfast out early on the morning of our departure. I know everyone in our group appreciated the great service we received during our stay there. Personally, I really appreciate all the help you and your staff gave me with making rooming arrangements, and especially making changes at the last minute, as I had to shuffle some roommates around. I had a great time on my trip to Whitefish, and I really enjoyed staying at the Kandahar. You have a wonderful place there, with a friendly and professional staff. I have already recommended the Kandahar to some friends of mine who are skiers.
Thanks again Jennifer, to you and your staff.

This was my first trip to Montana, and Kandahar Lodge couldn’t have been a better place to stay to get the feel & beauty of Montana. The staff was very accommodating, the rooms were very comfortable & attractive, and the kitchen was essential with leftovers and feeding our toddler. The workout room, locker rooms and whirlpool was also a treat! It was like staying at a “lodge” vs a hotel because of it’s warm, cozy feel. Also, we were able to drive to Glacier National Park in less than 40 minutes, and enjoy the city of White Fish, which was only 20 minutes away. We feel very lucky to have found Kandahar Lodge.

We have stayed with a big group from Washington state the last two years for the Presidents Day ski holiday. I just want to say that it is by far the best place to stay on a ski vacation. The staff is wonderful, the lodge is beautiful and everyone bends over backwards to accomidate their guests. The rooms are snug and comfy with down comforters and wonderful woodsey decor. The lodge is warm and inviting with that huge fireplace and the Snug Bar. Can't wait to stay there again. Thanks Kandahar for everything.

From Cary in Houston - Through Trip Advisor

My wife and I spent six nights at the Kandahar in mid-January of 2007, for skiing. We have skied lots of different places--from Vail to Breckenridge to Lake Tahoe to Jackson Hole--and have stayed in lots of different places (condos, luxury hotels, etc.). So we are educated consumers when it comes to ski trips.

Of the dozen or so places we have stayed for ski trips, the Kandahar was one of our top two or three. Another reviewer is right that the photos really don't do it justice. The main lobby space is very large with a big roaring fireplace and overstuffed leather furniture, and right off of it is the wonderful Snug Bar, which is tiny, intimate, with millions of ski photos and the most personal service you could ask for. All you need is two feet of snow to make it perfect.

Our room was _huge_: queen bed with pull out sofa/sitting area and a nice size bath with nice tile accents. We also had a mini fridge, microwave, etc., which came in handy. Not deluxe, but also not generic. Comfortably in between, and everything worked just fine. Other notable aspects of the lodging: big outdoor hot tub that could hold about 25 people. Could have been hotter but was still very nice. Didn't do the steam room because it smelled a little funky. Didn't do the in house spa either, but there is one in the building.

Location: it is more ski in than ski out. You can ski right to the ski valet room (with separate heated boot room--nice!) from the slopes. To ski out, you have to walk across the parking lot about 100 yards, but we never bothered because the staff will run you over to wherever you want to go, on demand, in the hotel van. Also, you are right next door to the only on-mountain superette, which sells wine, beer, muffins for the a.m., and waveable frozens if you want to eat in room and on the cheap. Easy walking distance to the base village bars, ski outfitters, etc.

As for Whitefish, it is 20 minutes (not 15, but also not 30 in normal weather) via the free Snow Bus that you catch about 300 yards from the Lodge, next to the Bierstube, which is a truly classic ski bar. It stops running back up the mountain at 9:30. Great town--good bars and shops on the main drag, and dinner at Wasabi (if you like sushi) is a must. Nice wine list in addition to the food. We only got into town one night, though, and were happy to hang out on the mountain after skiing ourselves into the ground.

Speaking of food, Cafe Kandahar in the Lodge is not to be missed. We know from regulars who winter here that it is by far the best food on the mountain, but that really doesn't do it justice. Let's put it this way: we live in downtown Houston, within 10 minutes of many fabulous restaurants, and we thought the two meals we had at the Cafe were on a par with the best we have had. They may be a little fussy about recommending wines from their pretty pricey (but also outstanding--as in Spectator Award of Excellence outstanding) list, but the food is worth agonizing over the wine. I'd recommend they add a little ballast on the low end of the wine list, since there are plenty of great inexpensive wines out there these days. But the bottom line: Really fantastic fare (and we don't eat meat, and always found something excellent on the menu, in addition to the game and meat). In other words, bite the bullet, pay the fare, you have to eat there.

Last, the staff at the Lodge was fanstastic: attentive but not fussy, on top of everything (the van driver guy keeps the fire roaring for you), friendly, helpful, and seemingly very committed to keeping the Lodge's reputation intact.

Best of all, the price was about 20-25 percent less than comparable (or less than comparable) packages we explored at other resorts. I don't want to get into a review of the mountain per se, but it's fantastic terrain, uncrowded skiing, and for that you get 3.5-4 star lodging at 2.5-3 star prices. We loved it, and we will be back for another ski trip

Message to us: To All the Exceptional Staff at Kandahar

YOU ARE INCREDIBLE!!!

Thanks to ALL OF YOU for helping make our very First Ski Vacation a complete success!!!

Our stay at the Kandahar is one we'll never forget. The Lodge is absolutely beautiful, and offered everything we needed for a wonderful vacation. Our room was gorgeously decorated and so comfortable, we felt right at home.

We loved sitting by the fireplace in the Great Room to warm up a bit before heading to the Cafe Kandahar for dinner. All of the meals were EXCEPTIONAL, but the Special Valentine Dinner was SUPERB!!! Kudos to the Chef!!

We HIGHLY RECOMMEND Kandahar Lodge to anyone looking for a wonderful place to stay and ski. Once you experience Kandahar Lodge, you'll never go anywhere else. Big Mountain is breathtaking and has something for everyone.

As for OUR skiing, it leaves much to be desired...lots of bumps and bruises...ha ha...but we proudly earned everyone!! We are thrilled to be among the ranks of "Big Mountain Skiers" now, and we CANNOT WAIT to come back!! We haven't conquered the mountain yet...but we'll try it again next year! ha!

We loved EVERYTHING about Kandahar Lodge and Big Mountain so much, that we're making our February Ski Trip an annual event...and we're bringing friends and family with us!!

THANKS AGAIN for making our stay so pleasurable and memorable. We will never forget the wonderful time we had or any of you who made it so.

God Bless You All! See You Next February!

This is directed to the entire staff of the beautiful Kandahar Lodge.

My wife and I recently spent 4 days at the lodge. We honestly had no idea of what to expect. Being from Cincinnati, Ohio, and going out "west" you really have no idea of what you may encounter. I was stationed in 29 Palms California, but never had the opportunity to explore anything other than LA and that to me does not count as the "west."

My wife and I wanted to enjoy something different and see new things..........and that certainly happened. Our room was amazing, it was everything that we thought it would be. It was exactly how it was described to us. It was no bigger or smaller than we were told, and it was extremely cozy. The pictures of your lodge do not do it justice. It is much more gorgeous than what the pictures show. The staff at the lodge was absolutely perfect. Not one rude individual and everyone from the "Snug" to the morning waitresses in the cafe were amazing. We had an unbelievable time and we got to see things that we never thought we would see. WE WILL BE BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I only hope that I can send business your way, you have a unique and special place that everyone should experience. Thank you sooooo much for all that you did, and we can't wait to return next year!!!! Thank you again.

Sincerely,

Kenyon and Monica
